Most installations take 2-4 hours from start to finish. If we're removing an old unit first, add another 1-2 hours. We'll give you a precise timeline during your initial assessment.
In most NYC co-ops and some condos, yes. We can help you understand your building's requirements. For most prewar buildings with existing PTAC sleeves, a simple replacement doesn't require approval. For new installations in buildings without existing units, you'll typically need board consent. We'll advise on this during the assessment.
The right size depends on your room's square footage, ceiling height, window exposure, and insulation. Our technician will do a complete assessment. Oversizing wastes energy and money; undersizing means you'll be uncomfortable. We always recommend exact specifications.
Yes, but it's a larger project. We can create a through-wall opening or install a window unit instead. This requires building board approval in most NYC buildings and involves more construction work, so it takes longer and costs more. We'll explain your options during the consultation.
Standard PTACs have their own compressor and condenser (the outdoor unit). Water source heat pumps use your building's hot and chilled water loops instead. If your building has those systems (common in large residential buildings), water source HPUs are quieter, more efficient, and cost less to operate. Not all buildings can support them.
We can discuss payment options during your consultation. We work with several financing partners for larger jobs. For most residential installations, we accept major credit cards and can arrange payment schedules with board approval.
Installation, all necessary hardware and sealing materials, electrical hookup, system testing, old unit disposal, and a manufacturer's warranty (typically 1-10 years depending on the model). Simon-Aire units come with our lifetime technical support.
